2025 BONEYARD ARTS FESTIVAL SIGNATURE IMAGE– 40 North invites local artists to submit work to be considered as the official signature image for the Boneyard Arts Festival. To enter, submit the entry form by Monday, January 27, 2025. The Boneyard Arts Festival official signature image is featured on all festival registration materials, posters, postcards, billboards, print and online advertising, and on the cover of the Boneyard Arts Festival Quick Guide that is distributed to all festival venues and throughout the community. In submitting artwork for consideration as the festival’s signature image, artists grant permission to 40 North to use the work on various promotional pieces and understand that a detail or section of the winning piece may be ultimately used. 40 North will work with the artist to ensure the integrity of the piece is respected while also developing effective marketing that features the image. Submission deadline is 11:59pm on Monday, January 27th. Produced by 40 North | 88 West, the Boneyard Arts Festival will take place April 4 – 6, 2025.
40 NORTH REGIONAL ARTS PARTNERS GRANTS– 40 North, in its role as the local arts agency for Champaign County on behalf of the Illinois Art Council Agency and the National Endowment for the Arts, announces that applications for the Regional Arts Partners Grants are now available to local artists. Applications should be submitted electronically by January 13, 2025 for projects to be completed by July, 2025. A total of four artists will be awarded grants of $2800 each. 40 North will host workshops for prospective applicants in person as well as via Zoom. Applicants must live or work in Champaign County.

URBANA POET LAUREATE– The City of Urbana’s Poet Laureate Program celebrates poetry by recognizing a resident poet who honors and serves our diverse community and elevates the importance of the creative writing art form through sharing their work with Urbana residents. The Poet Laureate acts as an advocate for poetry, language, and the arts. They create a unique artistic legacy by conducting outreach activities, special programs, and presentations of individual works. The role of the Poet Laureate is to build upon the City’s local poetry scene, foster appreciation of poetry in all its forms, and support Urbana residents and visitors in deepening their appreciation of the art of creative writing. The poet laureate receives a $2,000 honorarium for the one-year term (February 17th, 2025 – February 1st, 2026) funded by the City of Urbana’s Arts and Culture Program.

BEST IN SHOW– The Champaign County Camera Club in partnership with Urbana Park District are presenting the 24th Annual Best in Show photographic print competition. Photographs will be on display at Lincoln Square Mall February 8-23, 2025. Complete the entry form and return form and prints to Urbana Park District, Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton, Urbana, IL.
Entry fee information, print size, and mounting requirements are listed on the entry form. Youth entries are FREE.
Early bird deadline is January 22, 2025 at 6pm. Submission deadline is January 29, 2025 at 6pm.

CREATIVITY ON WHEELS–Creativity on Wheels is a program offering bimonthly creativity boxes delivered by volunteers and monthly phone calls from a friendly volunteer to adults 60 and older living independently in Champaign & Douglas Counties. Boxes are themed and include art materials, art exercises designed by local artists, introspective crafts, affirmation cards, thought-provoking questions, and more!
Selected artists will receive a $300 stipend.

COMMON GROUND FOOD CO-OP FLATLANDER GALLERY– Apply to show your local art at Common Ground Food Cooperative! We are looking for many local artists to feature in our gallery. Our Art Gallery is located in our highly utilized Flatlander Classroom. This multi-use Classroom is ideal for integrating the arts into the urban environment and creating partnerships among artists, the community, and the Co-op. Selected artists will be invited to install for around 1.5 months (approximately 6 weeks). Selected artists will be allotted 2 identical locked cases in the gallery each measuring 8’ long x 44’’ high x 4’’ wide.
