Artist Profile

Nathan Westerman

Artist Statement

In my current work I use reclaimed materials to produce color fields, stripes, patterns, and geometric shapes. I draw inspiration from the visual composition of language, repetition of music, and the rhythms of machines. My materials are often landfill-bound wood and latex paint from past work sites. Dipole Series explore attraction and repulsion, push and pull, polar opposites and the space between. I am interested in the separation of the positive and negative charge and the distance of the magnetism in these bodies.
