Artist Statement:
Studio furniture is a design area where art meets function. I draw from many great design aesthetics including Asian, Arts and Crafts, and Modernism to form my own design vocabulary. I typically work with highly figured hardwoods sustainably harvested in the Midwest. I will use different woods, tones and textures to create unique, functional furnishing compositions. My work often incorporates mixed media that is typically organic, such as metal, glass and clay. I enjoy challenging conventional furniture concepts where function meets art. Working with commissioning clients is a rewarding experience. I strive to work closely with each client to achieve works that beautify their environment and address their functional needs.
Bio / Description:

I am a studio furniture designer and maker. I also design and create lighting, functional art and decorative objects. I work primarily with wood, however, I often incorporate other media such as glass, metal, paint and ceramics into my work.

Born in St. Louis, I now reside in Urbana with my wife Donna. We share a studio on our property known as Pleasant Circle Studio. Donna works with art glass. She occasionally contributes glass work to various projects, especially lighting.

My educational background is in Fine Art, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture. My studies laid a groundwork for my understanding of design and spacial relationships.

Locally, my work can be found at the Cinema Gallery in Urbana. I also do commission work including custom unique furniture, woodworking, lighting and functional art. I have created work for clients throughout the United States and as far away as New Zealand.

I have had the honor of winning the NICHE award in 2007 and 2011, and was a finalist in 2009. The NICHE award is a national award for design. My awards were for wood and furniture design.nike roshe two flyknit zappos women shoes outlet
