David and Roberta deliver a visual presentation based on their work that describes how the pieces they make are fueled by passion. Their home is a design lab of sorts where they surround themselves with objects and still lifes that they find inspirational and motivating. Their house is an idea source; over the years, it has evolved and one has informed the other. They will show how their work has changed in tandem.知らないとオヤジ認定される36の若者言葉【随時更新】 , メンズファッションメディア

The Capture of Choice , Change & Coincidence

Assemblage & Photography by Durango Mendoza

Humans and what they make, and what nature makes, coexist in the world, giving rise to the term “juxtapose” to describe these close and contrasting relationships. Through a slow dance process of choice and change, what humans do may be captured and formed into new entities that owe their uniqueness to their new mix. These new relationships reveal and highlight the memories of each entity because their new configurations raise questions about the what and why of their original states. My work in photography and assemblage examines how humanity and what it makes can interact or collide with nature and confirm or jostle our perceptions.

“Presently Absent” solo art exhibit opens Feb. 9

CHAMPAIGN – Starting Feb. 9, Giertz Gallery at Parkland College will host a solo exhibition of paintings by Tom Berenz,
An artist reception takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 with a gallery talk by Berenz at 7 p.m. and music by the Parkland Guitar Ensemble. The artist will provide an additional lecture in The Giertz Gallery at Parkland College on Thursday, February 12 at 1:15pm.
Tom Berenz is an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Berenz has an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MA from Northern Illinois University, and a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Berenz blurs the lines between realism and abstraction, beauty and horror, devastation and the sublime. He uses the disaster motif as a metaphor to create conversations about personal, sociopolitical, environmental and ideological issues. The choice of images is always changing, but always returns to a pile. His paintings depict the still after a disaster, the quiet resulting from devastation.
Parkland Art Gallery’s spring hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. and Saturday, noon–2 p.m. The gallery will be closed February 26 for Professional Development Day, March 23-28 for Spring Holiday.
To find the gallery when classes are in session, we suggest using the M6 parking lot on the north corner of the campus. Enter through any door and follow the ramps uphill to the highest point of the first floor, where the gallery is located. The gallery windows overlook the outdoor fountain area.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Parkland is a section 504/ADA-compliant institution. For accommodation, call 217/351-2505.

The world’s #1 name in comedy is coming to C/U! Central Illinois gets in on the laughter as The Second City takes on all the news that’s fits to twist. The biggest headlines! The hot-button issues! And it’s all served up with a side of that famous Chicago-style improv. Don’t miss your chance to see the superstars of tomorrow live on stage now — when The Second City Hits Home!

When The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, no one could have guessed that this small cabaret theatre would become the most influential and prolific comedy theatre in the world. The Broadway success of Mike Nichols and Elaine May – members of The Second City's predecessor, The Compass Players – put attention on the fledgling company. Soon, alumni of The Second City – such as Alan Arkin, Robert Klein, David Steinberg and Fred Willard – began to cement the theatre's reputation for developing the finest comedic voices of each and every generation. With the debut of NBC's Saturday Night Live, populated by Second City Alums John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and Gilda Radner, the theatre became internationally known for its ever increasing roster of comedy superstars. Since then, The Second City (and its Canadian sister-theatre) has launched the careers of Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Mike Myers, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Bill Murray and many, many more.
