Sudden Sound Concert Series | Featuring Secret Keeper

Thursday, September 22, 2016
KAM Lower Level, Classroom Studio B (formerly CRL Gallery), 500 E Peabody Drive, Champaign IL

Come to the first concert of this season's Sudden Sound Concert Series, which presents leading artists in the fields of improvised music and the jazz avant-garde.

Secret Keeper is a creative musical collaboration of guitarist/composer Mary Halvorson and bassist/composer Stephan Crump.

Meeting as members of the New York creative music scene in 2011, Halvorson and Crump immediately planned to collaborate. Their recent second release Emerge reveals a new level of chemistry first heard on their Intakt debut, Super Eight.

Crump last appeared in Urbana in 2014 at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts as a principle member of Vijay Iyer’s Trio. Halvorson makes her second Sudden Sound appearance; her first was as a member of the Tomeka Reid Quartet, which performed at KAM earlier this year.

The Sudden Sound Concert Series, now in its 11th year at KAM, is curated by Jason Finkelman.
