First Presbyterian Church, Champaign to Host Lecture Series on Qur’an

Champaign, Illinois- May 14- First Presbyterian Church, Champaign is hosting a seminar titled, Gaining a Christian Understanding of the Qur’an on Tuesday, May 19th from 7:00-8:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

This seminar is the first of a five-part series led by Michael Chrzastowski, PhD. The remaining sessions will take place on Sunday mornings from 11:45-1:15 on May 24, June 7, 14, and 21. The lecture series will discuss why reading the Qur’an can be challenging for Christians due to structural and contextual variations from the Bible. Dr. Chrzastowski will also discuss what the scripture of Islam says about Jesus and the nature of God.

Gaining a Christian Understanding of the Qur’an is part of First Presbyterian Church, Champaign’s Courageous Conversations series. Courageous Conversations began in 2014 to address social justice issues in the community and around the world. The goal of the series is to engage, educate, and empower members of our church and local community. The series is held quarterly.
