All Events ›Come to C4A this Halloween for some SCARY MUSIC!
Tuesday, October 31, 2017 to Wednesday, November 1, 2017
The Community Center for the Arts is hosting a first-ever Scary Music workshop featuring the eerie sounds of the theremin and synthesizer on Halloween--Tuesday, October 31--from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at 202 W. Main St, in Urbana.
Our teachers will offer free workshops to introduce you to electronic music (including how to play a theremin and synthesizer) and we’ll also show you some fun scary sounds you can make on acoustic instruments, so bring your instrument! (Or use one of ours.)
Then we’ll guide you as you explore uncharted soundscapes with free improvisation around our scary noises theme. This is one of those great times when experienced musicians and newcomers can both have fun participating!
The Wu-Morse Duo will be on hand for this, and you’ll get to hear your improvisation as it is filtered through the incredible LinnStrument MIDI Controller. This is guaranteed to be both cool and spooky!
Treats and general musical fun will round out this event that is suitable for all ages. Wear a costume or come as you are. There is no admission fee; donations will be accepted.
