Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra Will Perform Holiday Concert December 8
Maestro Stephen Alltop will conduct the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra (CUSO) in Holiday Glories, joined by the University of Illinois Oratorio Society, The Central Illinois Children’s Chorus, and soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m.

In one of the most popular concerts of the year, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Stephen Alltop, will present Holiday Glories on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Foellinger Great Hall at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. The orchestra will be joined by the University of Illinois Oratorio Society and the Central Illinois Children’s Chorus to perform a mix of classical and popular holiday favorites for the whole family. Poulenc’s joyous Gloria will be performed, featuring Dutch soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg, the Oratorio Society, and conductor Andrew Megill. The concert program also includes Wendel’s A Chanukah Overture, Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, Sleigh Ride, a traditional carols sing-along, and a visit from Santa. “This concert offers a delightful array of holiday music for the whole family to enjoy,” remarked Maestro Alltop. “The Central Illinois Children’s Chorus and the University of Illinois Oratorio Society will add their voices to the glorious sound. The Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra is the professional orchestra in residence at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, University of Illinois. Celebrating its 57th season, upcoming concerts include Holiday Glories on December 8, British Bounty on January 28, 2017, Music of the Heartland on March 17, and Latin Sensations on April 29.
