Tickets On-Sale: Fri, Nov 16, 2018 – 10am

Humorist Nick Offerman returns to the site of his youthful matriculation with a collection of sawdusty musings on living with enthusiasm, crafting things in wood and most importantly, cultivating mirth.

Nick Offerman, University of Illinois Alum, generously is performing this show as fundraiser for the future Japan House Annex. Tickets go on sale for the public on Friday, November 16 (thevirginia.org/). Very special VIP tickets for $250 will also be available to the public. This VIP ticket entitles you to prime seats in the house and an after-show ‘meet and greet’ onstage cocktail gathering with Mr. Offerman – only 20 tickets will be available.

Mr. Nick Offerman is best known for his role as Ron Swanson on the NBC hit comedy series ‘Parks and Recreation,’ and he was the U. of I.’s commencement speaker at Memorial Stadium last year. In addition to his acting career, Mr. Offerman is a well-known author of numerous best-selling books and a woodworker who founded Offerman Woodshop, in Los Angeles. Offerman is a native of Minnoka, Illinois and graduate from the University of Illinois in theatre in 1993. As a theatre student, Offerman enrolled in classes taught by Professor Shozo Sato, founder of Japan House. The two have remained close, and Offerman continues to honor his Sensei through his generous support of Japan House.

Cunningham Children's Home Spiritual Life Center, 1301 N. Cunningham Avenue

Cunningham Children’s Home’s signature fundraiser, the Festival of Quilts, joins the Boneyard Arts Festival as one of more than 90 galleries showcasing the arts in Central Illinois. This year Cunningham is excited to present a collection of show quilts that creatively blur the lines between conventional quilt making and fine art. The 14th annual Festival of Quilts will also include a quilt auction and quilt boutique as well as a gift shop, bake sale and the Patchwork Café.

The Boneyard is a four-day event which brings together area businesses, organizations, and artists while promoting the cultural vibrancy of our community. As the Festival of Quilts has grown and the quilts submitted for viewing have evolved it became obvious to all who help with the event that many of our local artists are sharing their artwork through quilts.

This year’s Festival features two guest speakers. Friday at 11 a.m., Marie Samuel will present A Trunk Show of Eco-Art Collage Quilts. On Saturday at 11 a.m., Cynthia Cossu and Harris Gosselin, owners of Threads of Time in Danville, Ill., will present Threads and Needles and Machines. Oh My!

The Vagina Monologues is based on V-Day founder/playwright/activist/performer Eve Ensler’s more than 200 interviews with women about their views on sex, relationships, and violence against women. With both humor and grace, the piece celebrates sexuality and strength.
For more than a decade, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public and brought a deeper consciousness to the conversation around ending violence against women and girls. It has been translated into 48 languages and performed in over 140 countries.
