All Events ›Amasong Concert - Nevertheless, She
Sunday, May 20, 2018 to Monday, May 21, 2018
McKinley Presbyterian Church
Amasong will present ‘Nevertheless, She’ a concert of music written by women - May 19 and 20, at 4:00 pm at McKinley Presbyterian Church.
Women composers have long been viewed as less qualified or serious than male composers. Nevertheless, women continue to compose! Join Amasong as we honor these great musicians.
The concert will include a newly discovered piece from the Baroque era convents, Justice Choir protest music composed in 2017, and a variety of music from around the world. Other pieces include an Indian devotional song written by Amasong’s own Smitha Vishvishwara, an avant garde work by Meredith Monk, and a contemporary favorite by Imogen Heap.
Admission is $15, more if you can, less if you can’t. A raffle of items donated from chorus members and the community will also be offered at both concerts.
