Exhibit 1
In Human Form: Exploring Us
February 21st, 2006 through April 1st, 2006
The earliest known representations of the human body come from Europe and date to between 25,000 and 12,000 years ago. Carved from stone and ivory, these ‘Venus’ figures represent the female form and may have been associated with fertility. How do we portray ourselves now ? What are the connections to who we were then and who we are now? Explore these and other questions with Verde.
In the February 2006 Verde will be featuring an exhibition that explores the human form through the visual arts.

Exhibit 2
Emergence II: International Women in the Arts
April 4th, 2006 through May 20th, 2006
The title and symbol for the show have significance on several levels. The term “emergence” not only relates to the artists having emerged from their diverse origins, but also to their artworks having emerged from the essence of creativity as well as this entire exhibition emerging into the local community through the channel of Verde Gallery.

Some have asked "Why do a show that features only women artists? Do we have to look at gender as a defining element of who we are? My answer is this...
This is an international show. We don't have to look far beyond our own borders to find extreme examples of current appalling gender discrimination that have persisted throughout history or to see that we don't understand other cultures and the roles of women and men in those cultures. To understand it is important to hear and see these stories and images. These artists bring forth singular and collective distant voices - as women.
