Sangamon River Arts Festival To Take Place in August

July 19, 2005
Mahomet - Organizers have announced the 2nd Annual Sangamon River Arts Festival, set to take place on Main Street in Mahomet, IL, August 19th, 20th and 21st, 2005. Fine artists from as far away as Missouri will participate in this year's event, which will include a music festival, 5K Run, Antique Show, and more.

A new Festival chairman was appointed in 2005, and organizers for the Mahomet-based arts festival expect this Summer's event to be a popular destination for fans of arts and crafts in a variety of media. They have recently announced the names of twenty-five artists and craftsmen joining the festival. Categories include Jewelry, Fiber, Mixed Media, Ceramics, Glass and many forms of 2-D Art, including Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media and Photography. A Children’s Art Booth (operated by the Champaign County Forrest Preserve and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary) will be available from 10am-4pm Saturday, and from noon-4pm on Sunday. There will be plenty of hands-on projects for kids of all ages to participate in -- the Art Booth will be located on Main Street in front of Coldwell Banker/American Legion.

In combination with the Arts Festival, organizers have also announced the 8th Annual Sangamon River Music Festival. Scheduled to run throughout the same weekend as the Arts Festival (and beginning at 4pm Friday, August 19th), the Music Festival kicks off with food, beverages and music and ends with a family movie.
