The Prompting Theater, the C-U based theater troupe comprised of adults with developmental disabilities, created recently another version of the classic tale by Gaston Leroux of The Phantom Of The Opera.  Departing from their usual comedy stylings, this production is a newly written dramatic musical.  This version follows closely the story line from the book, and features original music written by local director/musician Brian Hagy.  The story follows the timeless saga of unrequited love, as a man self-condemned to the caves under the Grand Opera House of Paris falls in love with a beautiful opera singer, as she rekindles her romance for a childhood friend.  Caught in this love triangle are the owners of the opera house and the cast and crew, who must endure great tragedies at the hand of the masked man.

To be cast:  9 male/8 female roles.  All roles involve speaking, singing, and dancing.

For Audition Information call: 217-253-6699  (ARTCo)

or

217-356-9176 (or 217-398-3831) in Champaign.

From Interstate 57, take the Tuscola exit (#212) and go West.  Continue on that main road (Highway 36) through a couple/three stoplights to Main Street. Turn right. Go down Main through downtown (and through at least one four-way stop...you'll end up on cobblestone) to Overton Street.  Turn right.  The Fine Arts Center of Tuscola is about three or four blocks away.

or

Take US 45 South from Champaign to Tuscola.  Turn on the road right after the flashing light when the speed limit changes to 50.  I don't think the road is marked, but there is a big sign that says "<----TUSCOLA"....Take that over the railroad tracks to the stop sign (Main Street).  Turn right on Main and go up to Overton.  Turn left onto Overton and the Fine Arts center is about three or four blocks away.
