call for artists

Makerspace Urbana is electrified to announce 2016 Heartland Maker Fest! On Saturday, October 1 at Lincoln Square Mall in Downtown Urbana makers, tinkerers, creators, inventors, DIYers, craftsmen and musicians will gather together to share their work with the public.

The Call for Makers, Performers and Crafters is open now through September 16th. Groups or individuals interested in participating in this event should complete the simple application form at heartlandmakerfest.org.

In the spirit of Makerspace Urbana, we are calling for all local talent to share and play with other makers as well as the community at large.  We need makers for the Heartland Maker Fest to show how art and science can meld together, all the while providing a hands-on approach for those who are inspired to create and learn. This is your chance to be a part of a community featuring rockets, robots, DIY science, technology, alternative energy, bicycles, unique and handmade crafts, music, as well as educational workshops and speakers.

The Fest’s mission is laid out in these three goals:

Inspire – by searching for creative and unique ways to exhibit at the festival.  We hope the creative process of others inspires our attendees.

Empower – by focusing on hands-on experience, we hope people feel empowered to make their own project a reality.

Connect – by creating a free and open public festival we hope to connect attendees to the local resources they need to help make their ideas come to life.

A breakdown of the event, including past makers and new additions to this year’s fest, will be featured on our webpage: heartlandmakerfest.org.

We invite you to see exactly how HMF develops over the next several months by connecting with us on Twitter @HeartlandMF, as well as our Facebook fan page.
